Winging It - Chapter 3
What a Day Abby Drack skipped dinner, I made Ramen, he never skipped Ramen. Something is up, he’s been in the bathroom for a while now. I got out of my seat and walked up to the bathroom door. I knocked three times. “Is everything alright in there?” I asked. Drack let out a high-pitched squeak. “Yeah, I’m alright, open the door, my hands are full.” He said. I slowly opened the door to see a shiny dragon with a large brush in their hand. “What’s the waxing for?” I asked. Drack never waxed his scales, at least, not usually. “I have a date with Sam tomorrow.” He answered. He kept reaching the brush down his back, he was struggling because of his larger size. “Oh really?” I asked excitedly. “How did you even get into contact with him, I thought your POD was broken?” “Oh, my POD is still broken, I emailed him from a library computer.” He said. I almost laughed; this is something only Drack would do. He kept reaching the brush down his back, he’s really struggling. “Did I get

Small Adventure Drack My alarm clock startled me, right, I have one of those now; it used to be my POD that would rattle but I don’t have that anymore. I lifted my arm from the floor and smacked the clock and it stopped making its horrible noise. I yawned and got out of bed. I really don’t fit too well on this small thing, but nothing bigger will fit into this room. I mulled through my dresser and finally took out a plain grey shirt. I slipped it on and went to the kitchen. I popped a piece of bread in the toaster and went to the bathroom and brushed my teeth. I heard the toaster pop up and I washed out my mouth to get rid of the toothpaste taste. I grabbed my toast out of the toaster and put it on a plate. I looked in the cupboards and pulled out a jar of peanut-butter. I grabbed a knife and scraped the last bit of peanut butter out of the jar. I spread it over the toast and ate my breakfast. I’m gonna have to get some more peanut butter before I come home today. I grabbed my

Finding Home There is a complimenting piece of art for this story. The link is in the description, please go check it out, we're both really proud of this project. Drack The train softly shakes me around. Nearly Everyone around me is looking at their P.O.D devices. I’m pretty much the only dragon here without one. The one I did have broke right before I got on the train. I don’t have a way to contact Abby or get directions to our new apartment. I’m pretty much going to be stranded in Providence for a few hours. At least I know the name of the apartment building; Soar Estate. Back at school I told Abby how I was going to stay in Providence to go to college and how I was starting to get stressed over it. I didn’t have a place to stay nor did I have a job to pay for a place to stay; sure, I had won a scholarship that would pay for rent to a small apartment for a little more than a year but that was still only a year. Then the idea of us being roommates came up. She wanted to get out

Chapter 3 “It’s time to get up.” Hera said. She nudged my head. I don’t want to get up. “Come on, we don’t want to be late.” She said. She nearly pulled me out of the bed. “Alright, alright, I’m up.” I said. I slinked out of the bed and looked into the closet. They gave me so much clothes… I feel like I don’t deserve this kind of hospitality. A roof over my head, an education, clothes… it’s the exact same thing I got before, so why does this make me feel guilty? I quickly got dressed and left, Parx wasn’t there in the morning, he had things to do. I’m just glad I’m able to walk again; Mana Sickness is no joke. Walked into the kitchen and made us breakfast. It was nothing too special, I’m just glad I’m somewhat decent at cooking. Thank you Parx, you saved me from disgusting breakfast. After breakfast we set out towards the school… man I hate saying that I’m excited to go. Hera… is an odd dragon compared to most. She has fur and her colors are vibrant and unique, she stands out

Chapter 5 Not even fifteen minutes after I called Trevor my entire family and Carter were crowding behind the camera of a phone. I positioned my phone, so the camera was staring directly at the egg, there are soft cracks spread around the top. It’s been five months already; we’re finally going to be able to meet our child. I’m giddy as all be, I keep hopping in place. “You’re shaking the ground, Jack.” Liz said. “Sorry, I’m just so excited!” I responded. I took a deep breath and settled down a bit. I still feel like prancing around, but I know that I shouldn’t. “I wonder what they’re going to look like!” Mom said. I wonder too, but I still can’t wait to see them. “They’re likely going… actually, we have no idea.” Carter said. “Dragon coloration completely defies all known laws of genetics, it’s best to toss a twenty sided di than try to figure out dragon genetics.” “Is it really that unpredictable?” Liz asked. Carter sighed. “Much more unpredictable than telling if it’s a

Chapter 12 The white light faded, and the bustling noise of the town began to slowly fill my ears. It’s been two days since Mr. Admin talked with me, five more days being stuck as a quadrupedal dragon. I walked off the spawn platform, even now only being here for less than ten seconds almost every single person is staring at me. I’m still not too used to walking around in this body, nor is having a small slime on my back making it any easier. I can hear people whispering. “Is that a player?” “They look like the level eleven.” “How did a monster get into the Plaza?” “Is that a slime?” “That’s a slime on their back.” “Are they a tamed monster?” “Where would their master be then?” “I CAN HEAR ALL OF YOU YA KNOW!” I roared. All conversation stopped. “I’m not in the mood for everyone to whisper about me, if you’ve got something to say, make sure everyone can actually hear it.” I said. I continued walking, I haven’t the time to even want to deal with this. The whispers

Chapter 4: Site Zero 2 months till the egg hatches My leg has been fixed for almost a month at this point, it still feels off somehow. Liz is busy trying to improve out little makeshift freezer while I’m curled gently around our egg. My wing has still yet to heal, I can flex it around, but it would sure get worse if I tried to fly with it. I watched as Liz carefully scratched into a flat piece of metal with her claw. The magic users of Earth keep improving, it’s almost scary. The government is trying its best to create laws to prevent mass magic warfare. The most recent development being runes. I’m in love with the fact that everyone agrees to call these things what we made them in pop-culture before they were a reality. Liz took her claw off the piece of metal and the design she carved into it lit up a soft icy blue. “IT WORKED!” She said excitedly. She nearly hopped into the air; this is the fifth time she has tried to make a proper rune. She laughed to herself, then she fell

Sworn Protector - Chapter 1
Chapter 1 The room is quiet… other than the soft tap of claws on the tile floor. Despite there really being nothing there, a dragon is pacing around on the other side of the room. The dragon is no taller than the average adult. Teal fur lines their belly, it’s cut off by bright orange fur that covers the rest of their body. Her wings are small, I doubt she could fly if she were real. I do like how their wings look however, the membrane closest to the base of the wing’s fingers are a very dark teal and slowly as it goes further away from the fingers it gets brighter until it is almost a sky blue. The dragon, Hera, as she calls herself, sat in front of the only door to this room. She stared at me; she usually did. Never a moment in my life when she just left me alone. I looked at the toilet in the corner of the room and shuddered. I hate it. I hate the damn bright blue-eyed stare she gives me. Her eyes aren’t even human, yet they hold so much humanity. I fucking hate it, she’s not

Stage 2 “I’m a damn monster!” I shouted. “A MONSTER!” I punched my claw into the ground, making a dent in the soft dirt. I couldn’t control myself. I just went into autopilot. I attacked that stage three dragon. Why did I fucking think to even attack a stage three? They were still human; more human than me. Why? Why am I slipping so much? Why am I not even dead? My body is changing. That’s why I’m not dead yet. I’m no longer a stage one dragon. I can’t feel anything at all, the only sensation is the tears dripping down my muzzle. I can hear my bones snapping but no pain is coming with it. Whatever god is left in this world is sparing me from that pain. My br- “AGH!” pain spread through my body. I curled up into a ball, I couldn’t bare to move. I hate this. I hate this. I hate this. I should be dead. Something kill me. Please. Something kill me right now. Let me go join my brother. Let me go join my family. Just kill me. I could hear grass shifting. Something. I lifted my head

Chapter 1: Rift A shallow beep pierced the morning silence. I slowly began moving only to be stopped by Liz, she had curled around me in our sleep. I slowly reached my arm towards the alarm and clicked snooze. Liz deserves the sleep; she’s been working hard… she’s also going to lay an egg any day now. Liz is supposed to go get checked on to make sure everything is alright, and I don’t have to work until after that appointment. I rested my head back down on the bed right in front of hers and gave he a soft kiss on the forehead. I laid like that until the alarm went off again fifteen minutes later. I managed to get myself out of Liz’s grip without waking her up. I silenced my alarm and began getting ready for my day ahead. I walked into the bathroom and started to brush my teeth. The head of the automatic toothbrush I use is starting to get old, I’m going to have to replace it soon. I just need to not bite down on the new one like I did when I first started using a mechanical
